Iggy Pop's Rockin' Rebels (BBC Radio 6)


Iggy Pop's Rockin' Rebels was the first show of Iggy Pop's legendary BBC Radio 6 Music series, first broadcast as a special holiday show on December 25, 2013.

The episode features Iggy diving into the roots of rock, spinning early 1950s/60s rebels, rhythm and blues, and proto-punk.
This recording is from a re-broadcast in February, 2023 when Iggy dug through and presented some of his archive shows.

David Bowie - BBC Radio 1 Star Special (1979)



On March 20 1979, BBC Radio 1 invited David Bowie to be the DJ for their show Star Special.
Bowie spent two hours playing some of his favorite songs (and 2 tracks from the new album, Lodger). An eclectic mix including The Doors, Iggy Pop, John Lennon, Philip Glass, Talking Heads, Jeff Beck, The Rolling Stones, etc.
This recording comes from a re-broadcast on March 25, 2013 on BBC Radio I Player.

The Rock Show with Johnnie Walker - BBC Radio 2 (2024)

Johnnie Walker was an English radio disc jockey and broadcaster. He began his career in 1966 on pirate radio station Swinging Radio England before joining Radio Caroline. Then joined BBC Radio 1 in 1969 and BBC Radio 2 in 1998. From 2009 to 2024, he presented Sounds of the 70s on Sunday afternoons and The Radio 2 Rock Show on Friday nights from 2018 to 2024.



On his final Rock Show, on October 25, Johnnie played his favorite rock anthems from artists as The Rolling Stones, Deep Purple, The Kinks, etc.

Tom Petty's Buried Treasure was a radio show that Petty presented during several years. It began in December 2004 and was initially aired on XM Satellite Radio.
The songs in his playlists were rock'n'roll, blues, and R&B rarities mainly from the fifties and sixties from his personal record collection.
This Christmas special was episode 13 of season 3.

The Rory Gallagher Story - BBC Radio 2 (2005)



The Rory Gallagher Story was broadcast on BBC Radio 2 on April 16, 2005, ten years after Rory's death.
Gary Moore pays tribute to blues-inspired rock guitarist Rory Gallagher, who died on 14 June 1995, aged 47. 
Featuring rare archive recordings, including a previously unaired demo from the 1960s. 
Other contributors include English folk giant Martin Carthy, ex-Cream bassist Jack Bruce, ex-Dubliners singer Ronnie Drew, Georgie Fame as well as old friends from Cork.
